Meet Me Tomorrow in Delaware

This weekend I’ll combine a little business with a lot of pleasure. We’ll spend a 3-day weekend at Rehoboth Beach, our favorite Oceanside spot in Delaware. When it gets hot on Saturday I’ll take a break from sand and surf to head for the Atlantic Book Warehouse. It’s the big book store in the area, an outlet really, on Highway One in the Harbor Square Shopping Center. The selection is ginormous and I’ll be signing books there for mystery… Continue

Another Cool Review

I like to share reviews of my work, especially if the reviewers might lead you to other good reads. Today I want to introduce you to my pal Martha Eskuchen.

Martha lives in Florida, but we bumped into each other on the social network Gather.com. She’s an avid reader whose reviews you will find around Bookreporter.com, Goodreads, Amazon.com and other places under the byline MESreads, or sometimes MSEreads.

Martha posted a very nice review of Russian Roulette on Amazon.com,… Continue

Planning?

In the world of writing, as in the world of business, failing to plan is planning to fail. However, I am regularly reminded that spontaneity is an important part of keeping a personal life together. The challenge is that when one has a job and an all-consuming hobby, it’s hard to make spur-of-the-moment decisions. How do we handle this apparent life conflict?

Me? I plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

Author Update

Borders Express manager Russ really took good care of me yesterday. When I arrived the posters were up, he had been handing out bookmarks all week and there was a table at the entrance for me to take over. Oddly, now that I had copies of Russian Roulette available, just as many people still wanted the earlier Hannibal Jones books. Not that I mind. Once they’re hooked they return for the new book and Borders Express in Westfield Mall will have them.

On line, my friend and fellow… Continue

Meet Me Tomorrow in MD

My next book signing is Saturday at the Borders Express in Westfield Mall. I’ve done well in this store before but last time they hadn’t received Russian Roulette so this will be the first time for that book in this venue. If you missed it before, come back and visit me there and pick up my latest book tomorrow between noon and 4 pm. The mall is at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd, Wheaton MD.

Another Cool Review

I like point out changes on my main web site, and share reviews of my work. Today I’d like to introduce you to Joann.

I believe I met Joann the last time I was at Borders Express in Wheaton Mall. She said she didn’t read many mysteries but decided to give one of mine a try. What makes her comments stand out is that I believe hers to be the first feedback I’ve received from a mobile device. You can tell by the way a message is written that it was a text as opposed to an… Continue

Monday...AGAIN??

After a couple of good book signings I spent Sunday staring mindlessly at the big screen and avoiding all thoughts of today. I’m not eager to face the day job this morning.

Let’s face it: Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7 of your week.

Author Update

The airport stops rocked this weekend. Friday I spread my latest novel, Russian Roulette, around the world at Baltimore Washington International Airport. The folks there know how to treat an author – coffee and a donut for my 8 am signing. I signed lots of books without losing the whole day.

Yesterday at Washington Dulles International Airport wasn’t quite as good, but well worth the visit. Sadly, the new title hadn’t arrived but lots of the others went to far flung corners of the… Continue

Flying to Washington or Baltimore? Meet Me this Weekend!

Today I will greet flyers at the Borders in Baltimore Washington International Airport from 8 am to noon.

Tomorrow I switch to Borders at Washington Dulles International Airport. I'll be talking to the afternoon travelers at that store, from 2 pm to 6 pm. It will be two more chances to spread my books around the country and around the world!

Another Cool Review

I like point out changes on my web site, and share reviews of my work. Today I'd like to introduce you to Steve Reeves.

Steve is the author of a thriller entitled Squawk 7500 - http://www.squawk7500thebook.com – which I reviewed for the International Thriller Writers newsletter. Steve was kind enough to return the favor by reading my latest release, Russian Roulette. While several people have posted reviews of my book on blogs or their web sites, Steve was the first I know of to give… Continue

Culture?

I am always astonished at the people I speak to in bookstores who don't appear to belong there. When I mention that I'm doing an author signing some look at me and say, "Oh, I don’t read books."

That’s why I support bacteria. They're the only culture some people have.

Author Update

Saturday I got a warm welcome at the Borders in Frederick, MD. We had beautiful weather and lots of traffic in the store, and an old friend stopped by to say hi (Thanks, Connie! It was great to see you!) I didn’t quite sell out this time – there were 3 books remaining when I left.

Meet Me in MD Tomorrow

Tomorrow I hope to repeat last weekend’s success at the Borders in Frederick, MD. The store was voted Frederick's Best Bookstore for 2006 and 2007 by Frederick Magazine, and I don’t think the vote is in for 2008 yet. But I’ll be proud to be there signing my novels starting at 1 pm, so stop by if you’re near there, at 5533 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD.

Another Great Review

I like share reviews of Russian Roulette and today I’d like to introduce you to super-fan Laine Estep.

Ms Estep is a real mystery connoisseur. Under the name MysteryReaderNC you can find her reviews of crime fiction on a number of web sites and blogs, including several on Amazon.com. She’s been a Hannibal Jones follower since near the beginning of his career so she was one of the first people I considered when I went looking for early reviews of Russian Roulette.

Ms Estep… Continue

Who's Your Publisher?

At book signings there are always people who, instead of asking about my books will ask, “are you self-published?” or, “Who’s your publisher?” It often feels like a put down, and some days I wish I could say “Random House. Why?” Instead I explain that I’m published by two small presses, Echelon Press being the larger.

But then I mention that The Shack was originally self published like my books originally were. And I ask if it would make a difference if I were published by Mariner… Continue
