Red-hot Repartee

Hey all,

I figured I'd post my, ahem, intro from THE BAR over here. Here goes:

My name is Deirdre (Dee) Savoy aka The Lady in Red
My favorite color is (duh) red
My age: if I told you it would defeat the point of posting that lovely (younger me) photo everywhere
My first rejection came from MAD magazine when I was eleven. They sent me a form rejection letter telling me I wasn't funny. (I was so lacking in a sense of humor that I never bought another copy of that mag.)
My drink of choice: banana daiquiri paid for by someone other than me

I started out writing romance in 1999. Graduated to romantic suspense in 2002. Now I'm hoping to do a mystery series once I work out a couple kinks. Also working on a women's fiction title and some fantasy thingie. My thirteenth book, Forbidden Games, will be out in February of next year.

So now, let's hear from you. Add some chatter to the chatterwall. Introduce yourself either here, at THE BAR or both. Okay, who's going to be first?

It's Heeeeere!

I finally got my author copies, and I must admit the book looks good--if I do say so myself. But I walked into my local Barnes and Noble and was disappointed not to find it. So I'm calling on you folks. Do me a favor and let me know if you spot it.

By the way, we got our first review from… Continue

Will the real possible future president please stand up!

A small item appeared in the Daily News here in New York about presidential hopeful Barack Obama in which Dennis Haysbert, the actor who played President Palmer on 24, claimed credit for fomenting in the American mind the idea that a black man--the… Continue

What hump?

The hubby and I ventured into the city on this frigid, frigid night to see Young Frankenstein on Broadway. Frankly, I didn't think they'd be able to pull off turning the movie into a musical, but I was wrong. I absolutely loved this show! A particular surprise was Megan Mullally whose pipes nearly blew down the house. I'd heard her sing on Will and Grace, but… Continue

Character Assassination

Dumbledore is gay and I'm annoyed as hell.

I have to admit I haven't read one page of one Harry Potter book. I've bought 'em all and my kids love them. I've seen some of the movies and even bought the damn DVDs. One year we went to a Harry Potter party with my kids dressed as Hermoine and Harry--complete with capes wand and a pair of busted glasses. Even Mama went in costume though I'd be hard pressed to tell you exactly what I was.

I tell you this so you know I don't mind… Continue

Try to do a good thing . . .

Don't know why it is, but I didn't notice until now that I have deigned to highlight the WRONG Elaine Viets title. The other one is a reprint that just happens to be coming out this month. Oy!

Anyhoo, here's the title I was supposed to be helping spread the word about: Murder with Reservations.

Now if someone could just tell me how to get a decent post with picture on this ning thing I'd be happy. Where's a good blogger widget when you need… Continue

It would be my husband's story, really. I was a tag-along. He was brought up by a single mother, was graduated from college (in three years), was a Koren vet, a musician (played over twenty instruments), a Formula-One race driver, and a pilot, and an A&I.

Best of all, he married me and took on my two children. We would have been married thirty-five years last Thanksgaving, but he died of a heart attack while working in our yard. I have his love letters and recordings of his music.

So there is hope for an ol' lady of 72 to be a published writer? Did I tell you that I take after Grandma Moses and that my Norwegian great grandmother lived to be 101? Happy 2008 to you!

Hey, Dee. How are you? This is a great site for the mystery writer in me, as well as my appreciation for good crime fiction.

On romance side, looking forward to my December Kimani release, CHRISTMAS HEAT, writing as Devon Vaughn Archer.

Hi Dee,
Mind if I join you in a banana daiquiri? We'll probably need a really BIG glass...and a couple of straws...and a couple of lamp shades...but only if the bar allows dancing on the tables. Thanks for befriending me.

Hi Dee! Banana Daquiris, eh? Well, I'm more a pint of ale man myself, though I'm partial to a fine, premier-cru Bordeaux if someone else is picking up the tab ... but at the right time, in the right place, with the right person, yes, I can see the allure of something sweet and intoxicating ...
