I picked up his Japanese Tales of Mystery & Imagination after seeing it in the recommended reading list in Stephen King's Danse Macabre. Definitely dark but Rampo was foremost a mystery writer. This anthology is awesome! I can't remember the last time a collection of short stories pulled me in so much -- love his simple, direct writing style. Anybody else read him?
