After reading Writing the Novel, I've decided to take Lawrence Block's advice and outline my favourite novels. I'm currently working on The Rainmaker. I still think this is Grisham's masterpiece. Love the punk-going-against-the-establishment story and the tone (humorous without being slapstick). Any thoughts on this book? Love it, hate it, indifferent?
I applaude your undertaking of doing a outline, I have tried this very thing, and it has helped.
And John Grisham is a very good choice, can't go wrong with anything he has written.
Good Luck

It’s been a long, long time since I read it …but I recall thinking that the assault that occurs towards the end of the book was underserved by the amount of pages it got. (I mean, really, a moral interrogation of the situation deserved a couple of hundred pages.)
It’s been a long time since I read Grisham, but ’The Rainmaker’ was my favourite.
