Kindle formatting question
I will put as-yet-written project on Kindle. What program should I use to write it in? Word 2003? Word 2007? Rich text? pdf? Other? Seems like converting a document to upload to Kindle is a nightmare. I'd rather start project in the easiest format possible for uploading. Please advise.
BTW, this is a non-fiction true crime project and not some bad, much-rejected fiction manuscript the world doesn't want to see and still shouldn't.

Kindle belongs to Amazon. Don't they decide what to put on and what format to put it in?

If you own the rights to your work, you can upload it to Kindle. Amazon isn't picky about who does this. :)
As for formatting, I'd check the Digital Text Platform page for requirements: https://dtp.amazon.com/mn/signin
