I just sent off my RSVP, check and forms for the Mystery Writers of America Symposium and cocktail party on April 28 in New York City. This is always a great day. The symposium costs $90 for members, $125 for nonmembers. The cocktail party is free for members, but is limited to the first 175 members to register - that's what prompted me to be so unusually speedy with my response. This party is the one I picture in the guided visualization I suggested in last Friday's blog, where I invited writers to promoted themselves. (You can still do so, by the way. Just go to Julie Lomoe's Musings Mysterioso.)
The Edgar Awards Banquet, on the other hand, is another kettle of fish - the price stinks! $175 per person, black tie. I guess it's great if you're nominated and your publisher pays your way, but it's obviously not for peasants like me.
