James Patterson just signed. . . now get this . . . a 17 book deal with Hatchette. He's supposed to bring out 11 new adult books, with a number of them regulated to his three running mystery/detective series which consistantly land on the best seller's list.

And who says financial times are terrible these days? The deal is reported to be worth $150 million.

Maybe it's the reason I can't get my book out of the publisher's inbox, it's buried under James Patterson manuscripts. Sure, it's a different publisher, but weirder things have happened!

;)
The entertainment media depends heavily upon writers. The creativity and impact of the indusry needs the input and ideas born from the mind of authors. When a writer strikes the right chord with his pen the industry reacts.
Sheesh, B.R., makes my $150. contract look a little paltry, doesn't it? Yes, I have a contract -- with myself. I get a new pair of shoes every time I write "the end". ;=)

Of course, it now occurs to me that all 3 of my children are more or less literate. Hmmmmm. Interesting possibilities.
I love the "new pair of shoes" bit. Right on! We've earned some appreciation, even if it's our own. In all the years I've been writing (and publishing0, I don't recall that anyone among my family or friends has ever been excited for me.
Heck, Ingrid, we're all excited for you :-)
Getting a book published is a huge deal and to keep getting published is a much larger milestone than a lot of people realize.
Bless you, Grant. See? Only another author would know.
