I felt a need to connect authors in my area (central CA) with readers. I've organized a Bookfest to be held April 19 in Hanford. The Veterans' have offered their hall, free of charge. The library is co-sponsoring the event. The Bookfest is free to the public and authors keep all their sales proceeds. Time is 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All it took was a cyber call-out alerting authors of the opportunity. This area is rural and not considered very literary, but we have an amazing number of published authors. Everybody gains. We're hoping this becomes an annual event for Hanford.

Hi Sunny,

I had an email from Paul Worthington today (from the Fresno Writer's Circle) about this, and am wondering: is this an event for crime fiction writers only? I've co-authored two published nonfiction books (one is probably most often classified as True Crime), and would be interested. What's the protocol for something like this, i.e., do we provide copies of our own books, and if so, how many? There was a mention of tables - do I need to reserve space? Thanks!

Kathleen, we are making it as simple as possible. You're an author, you have books to sell, you show up and sell. Bring freebies, handouts and decoratations for your table. All genres welcomed. Bring money to make change, you get to keep whatever you make. All I need is a 100 word bio and titles of the books, where you're located so I can do PR to your local media. I've got a You Tube video up, it was windy but we put it together anyway. It shows the venue and interesting historical sites within walking distance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn8pWaPIdMA&feature=channel_page
