Canada ("Canada? I don't even know what street Canada's on." -- Al Capone
About Me:
Award-winning thriller author of A Perfect Grave, Every Fear, The Dying Hour, Be Mine, No Way Back, Blood of Others, Cold Fear, If Angels Fall and SIX SECONDS, to be released early in 2009.
G'day from Australia Rick. Lived in Ottawa many eons ago. Loved it - but too cold for an Aussified Brit like me.
We seem to enjoy same books/authors. In Cold Blood started me off on faction writing but over here the bookstores still frown on it - don't know where to put the book on the shelves. Like you, I'm not a blogger, so this is all very new to me.
Happy New Year, Rick. I'm feeling rather overwhelmed and excited, too by the response of authors like yourself in welcoming me to Crimespace. Thank you.
Thanks for including me among your friends. I've hought of blogging too but won't as I think it will drain my writing energy. Novel writing is challenging enough. As for slam bang openings--they are wonderful if you can come up with them. fHappy New Year. Camilla
Happy to accept your invite. Agree about Heart of Darkness.Crimespace is a new experience for me and so is blogging.I co-authored my son's exblog 'Cycling Solo;Ireland to Istanbul' into a co-written book, but tend to concentrate on writing on my projects with deadlines, rather than blogging. However writing crime is new for me, so I'm regarding this as research. Many thanks.
Hey Rick,
Thanks for the friend invite. I admit *gasp* that I have not read any of your books. After reading the line about the ax, well, at least now I know to read your books in the daylight!! I am going to my local B&N this afternoon and I promise to "pick you up".
Will give you a nod when I finish *gulp* digesting your thriller ! :) kim
Thanks for your attention. I value the company of people who care about literature. I just noticed you like Conrad. 'The Secret Sharer' is one of my all time favorites. I also like john burdett, forgot to mention him on my page. But I will read some of your work as well. Looking forward to it.

Hello Rick--thank you for friending me, and congratulations on the DEADLY PLEASURES pick. A great holiday "gift" indeed--though I know how hard you worked for it. Again, kudos--and Happy New Year!
Thanks for inviting me to your friends' list...I'm happy to accept. Congratulations on the Deadly Pleasures nod for A Perfect Grave. I hope to learn more about you (and maybe vice-versa) here on CrimeSpace.
I agree with Al Capone, Rick, I don't know which street Canada is on either! But Texas -- heck you can get lost in Texas, too! 900 miles across from east to west. And if you don't like the weather here, just wait a minute!
Hi Rick, thanks for the invite. Canada huh, hopefully nowhere near my relatives, cause they'd probably be real quick to tell you I am the Black Sheep of the family!
Never blogged? No I thought I hadn't either, til someone pointed out our website was "an original blogger". Wow, I live and learn. So - happy blogging, actually, you get to learn a lot by reading blogs - so carry on writing!
Hi Rick I'm in the same boat about blogging. I didn't know why I needed one, but I've just done my third entry and it's been enjoyable. Letting me just throw away some energy so I can then get back to my 'normal writing'.
I've actually stopped writting True crime for just a moment to try my hand at a fiction. I didn't think I had it in me, but it's going rather well.
Congratulations on your award for A Perfect Grave. I will take a look-see at one of my online book sites (I use Seattle Mystery Bookshop a lot.). I wish I could purchase all the mysteries that I enjoy and find on various sites, but as a retired teacher, I have a champagne appetite and a beer pocketbook." Heck, I have always been in that boat even before I was retired. Oops, too many metaphors--my local library will get notification if I do not buy it, and because the book is an award winner, I may be able to convince the head librarian to make a purchase.
It is in Dallas Library's collection and is checked out until January 31, 2008. I put a hold on an earlier book, though. New stuff only checks out for 2 weeks; older, for 3.
Hi Rick - Much obliged for the invite, sir ... if you fancy dropping over to Crime Always Pays to fill out a Q&A, just drop me a line ... dbrodb(at)gmail.com. Cheers, Dec
Hello Rick -- we met all too briefly and on the fly at B-Con Madison. Hope all is going well with your writing. Hey if you hear tell of a mystery suspense anthology going down let me know, will ya?

Thanks for the invite, Rick. One of the problems I have is that I don't know any other writers. I know other lawyers, and I know other people I would call friends, but not writers, and it is good to meet someone who is where I would like to be, and seven books further along.
Hi Rick,
Very interesting bio up on your site and congratulations on your success. Always had an affinity for Canada as my old man was an RAAF navigator who trained there in WW2.
I guess his subsequent adventures in Europe were what got me interested in the thriller/espionage/man-on-the-run genres.
Hi fellow crime hound. glad to be found in this urban maze of crime writers. I liked your blog by the way. Keep it up!

Hey, Rick, I recently re-read Crime & Punishment. What a marvel of wordology -- truly inspirational! When I see words used like that to lay open the human mind with such utter precision, it really makes me want to kick my heels up and write.
Happy Family Day, if you get this new holiday in your part of Canukia!
