My novel 'The Nemesis Cell', and novella 'Avenue of the Dead' were published in 2007 by Stonehedge Publishing, The Nemesis Cell recently achieved 6th place in the Preditors & Editors Annual Readers Awards (Mystery Novel).

A new, dark psychological thriller 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper' was released by DoubleDragon Publishing in January 2008, and is selling very well in paperback, with the cover design having been awarded The Authors Lounge May 2008 Best Cover Illustration Award. Two collections of my short stories were also released last year, 'The Voice of Anton Bouchard' by Stonehedge Publishing, and 'Murder, Mayhem and Mexico' by Eternal Press, which came 9th in the antholigies category in the Preditors & Editors Readers Awards.

Help.....I know you know the answer....Is there a way to switch the main photo( the five dogs) with another photo that I already have on my page or do I have to get a new one from my collection of pics on my computer?

Well, well.........but it says to browse and upload a picture from my computer and I just want to move one from my collection of pictures already on my site. For example on Myspace I can pick one of my 300 pictures on that site and make it my default picture and I change it once a week just to keep me happy.
Also, for another time I'm mad at John Grisham..........GGRRRRRRRRRRRR

The dog in the picture is Puccini. He's a Bichon Frise with lots of attitude. He's very sweet natured, as you can see by the fact that he allows himself to wear getups like these and doesn't attempt to maul me. I have several other Bichons who won't allow more than a collar, and rebel at that.

Hope soon to relieve my eyestrain my reading one of your books. I first have to kill the wolf at the door--anyone know a good recipe for wolf? Why wolves at the door? I like wolves. Anyone have a good recipe for creditors?

thanks for that comment about the pups, brian! we have their framed photos--all five of them hanging in the kitchen! we loved them. it was so hard to sell them, bbut we coudln'thave kept them. and I like your dog, too. shelooks lovely!

I finally got around to ordering "A Study In Red" from Amazon. It take me awhile but I accomplish tasks eventually. My Son brings me so many books to read I can't up. I'm almost finished with both the John Hart books, then John Sandford's new book then Baldacci and I hope that's it. C J Box is coming May 31st to a bookstore nearby and I will purchase his book so I feel panicked.
I'm excited to read your book and can't wait for it to arrive. If only I could read faster. haha

Just returned from taking the dogs to the vet for a pedicure and anal gland express. haha
Man it smells BAD. I would like to have another dog but I plan on having knee replacement soon. One down about five years ago and now the other knee. I am ready.

Brian, I received A Study in Red on Friday late afternoon and finished it in the afternoon on Saturday. Oh my goodness. I hardly know where to begin. It is an amazing story you've written, and your research shows. What did you do - find a time machine, go back, watch and take notes? There is no way I saw the end coming (if it really was the end that is). I cannot say enough good things about it except to say that I most definitely want to read your sequel the SECOND it comes out and your other work as well. I wish you tremendous success with this and all your writing and I'm adding this book to my favorites' list on all my sites. Thanks for a completely different perspective on this subject. Brian, FYI, I put my review out on Amazon for A Study in Red yesterday. You already have terrific reviews out there and they are all well deserved. This would make a great film and I would be very interested in seeing it. I've seen a couple of movies about Jack, and one that dealt with a copycat, sort of, and they were okay, I guess, but very distant. By that I mean that even though they were movies, you know, with characters and acting and emotions and all, they were still quite flat. I didn't feel anything while I was watching them. I didn't feel any fear or curiosity or anything. I believe a movie, just like a book, has to make you feel something - cause some type of reaction. Hopefully, they will do your book justice because this book certainly does stay in your head and make you wonder about so many things. Can you keep us updated on the status of the film? Thanks. How in the world does he do that? I printed it by enlarging it to 200% and there is such incredible detail and so many colors. It's perfect for the subject matter. It looks eerie, like it's right out of the twilight zone.

I've already subscribed to the newsletter and to the quote. That newsletter sounds like it's going to be terrific. I've also submitted a novel (kind of a children's thing). It is very mild horror, but not really scary. It explores being different, but still being able to find a place to belong and others who are also different to belong with. When is the first newsletter going to come out?

My submission is entitled Choices and my name on the cover, of course, was Joyce Juzwik. I write as J. F. Juzwik. I formatted it according to the guidelines for a novel that I got from the site. That was SO helpful. It's a bit over 50,000 words. I received an email acknowledgment of the submission too, which I appreciated. That way, I know he received it. It is a story about a group of 'creatures' who do not quite fit in with their peers. One discovers a map and ends up following it and meeting the others along the way, and they all make the journey together, hoping to find a better life. It was a lot of fun to write and I think it's a fun read too, besides illustrating the fact that no matter how different someone might be, that doesn't mean they have to be an outcast. They, too, can find friends who accept them for who they are.

I noticed the newsletter mentioned flash fiction. I have one pending for Every Day Fiction, and I loved writing it. I also have a short pending with Crooked. It's been accepted, but it is just awaiting its turn. I'm really happy about it being accepted. That story turned out way cooler than I had originally anticipated. I'll post a blog here when it appears on Crooked. I would really enjoy writing some flash or a short story for Mythica's newsletter, if that would be possible. I can write crime fiction, suspense, or horror, and I love experimenting with different forms. Just let me know. That would be super. Joyce

Thanks for letting me know about submitting for the newsletter. I'm sending him a story tonight, A Gentleman Caller, for consideration. It is most definitely not a children's story, but I'm operating on the assumption that the target market for the newsletter is not kids. Anyway, I'm going to write an article too and send that along, either later this evening or tomorrow morning. Maybe I can come up with a flash tomorrow as well. I'm in a writing mood; can you tell? I'd like to send him just a few pieces for him to look over.

FYI: My 8 year old grandson and I had a discussion about your book tonight (A Study in Red) and Jack the Ripper in general (he's extremely sharp; I homeschool him and he's into some high school stuff at this point), but anyway, he's thinks your take on it is terrific. He writes crime stories too. I'm so proud.

It's not ready yet, but just one quick question. For the anthology entry, do you have to have a .doc file? My word program is acting nuts and I'm going to have to buy another. I might be able to do so before the deadline, but in case not, could I send an .rtf document?

It would be worth buying the book just for the cover, but I am certain the story behind it might be worth a look too (lol). Seriously though, the first one was great and when it ended, it was like 'what--no--you can't stop there.' I'm very glad there's more coming and I'm anxious to see where this one will take me.

Oh, and I've been awaiting receipt of your trilogy and angry because I haven't received it; only to discover I forgot to order it. I got distracted somewhere along the line (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it). Perhaps if I actually order it, I might actually receive it, so I'm taking care of that today. I've got my grandson reminding me in the case of another lapse, so it will get done this time!

Hi, This has been a horrendous week. I shouldn't say horrendous because nothing horrible happened, but it has just been SO crazy. I've been a bit under the weather, but nothing serious and getting better every day. First of all, yes the book has really been ordered this time and I am just waiting for it. Then, I want Kiss of Life, but then, you knew that already! I do want the cover, but I promise, I'll read it too! Now there is a 'journey into the mind of a serial killer'? Oh Yeah! Another MUST HAVE!

Also, before I forget, I should be getting the anthology entry to you by early next week. Between all the commotion here and my feeling a bit puny, I'm kind of behind on everything, but I'm picking up the pace little by little. I want to get it to you way before the deadline. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I'll give it a shot just the same. If nothing else, it's been a lot of fun to write.
