I thought I should introduce myself. I use the pen name Frank Gates. I am using the pen name to separate the two genres I now work in. I have an average publishing history; 50 short stories, 3 novels and I've edited a few publications.

This is my first step into Crime Fiction. I love books by Bob Morgan, Robert B Parker and John Case and more recently Richard Castle and I love the TV show as well. Castle and Supernatural are two shows I never fail to miss. But I loath CSI, NCIS LA (Miami and NY are ok), Numbers.

As I know zero about writing fiction I thought joining an active group on the subject might be a good idea.

I have a solid murder and I have worked backwards to find the who and the why. Now I need some clues, a location and a sleuth. Do I want to go third person or first person? Should I chuck it in and go back to the tried and true? Wow, that was a bout of 'fear of the unknown' better stay away from that.
