Jane's Crime Scene

Profile Information

Hometown:
Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, moved to Hedgesville, WV, for the wide open spaces (we're on 12 acres), spent college years in DC
About Me:
Two kids (13 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl), two dogs (English Shepherds-one boy, one girl), one husband (and I ask you, who needs more than one?) of 22 years. Love mystery reading and mystery writning, but at the rate I'm going, my nine-year-old daughter will be a published author before I am! She has written 7 chapters of her novel so far and it's good! Her teacher has already sent a poem of hers to a national magazine-keeping my fingers crossed. Anyway, I live in a small town pop. 237, but came from the Washington, DC area where I grauated from GW Univeristy. Presently, I'm a full-charge bookkeeper on the outside and a mystery writer on the inside.
Books And Authors I Like:
Authors: Robert B. Parker, Dick Francis, Anne George, Patricia Sprinkle, Janet Evanovich, Phillipa Gregory, Barbara Tuchman, Carl Hiassen, MC Beaton, David Baldacci, Lawrence Block--enjoy all of their books
Other Books: The DaVinci Code, Harry Potter series, On Writing, The Artist's Way, Room to Write, Gift from the Sea, A Wrinkle in Time, The View From Saturday--too many to mention!
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Ocean's Eleven & Twelve, Chocolat, Shakespeare in Love, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Wild Hogs, Night at the Museum, Pirates of the Caribbean, Late for Dinner, 24, Seinfeld--Haven't actually watched television in more than 3 years!

Come into my parlor

I'm so glad you could all come on such short notice. I suppose you're all wondering why I gathered you together. Well, one of you is responsible for the death of...
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Anyway, welcome to my crime scene and please feel free to leave evidence of your presence.

WV is Full of Character and Setting Potential

I live in a truly wild and wonderful place that is rich with characters and loaded with varied and spectacular scenery.

Please don't be offended by my observations; I really do love living here. I have found a very welcoming atmosphere among many friends. I admit to a certain feeling of "culture shock" having lived in the city so long.

West Virginia is not only home to the Mountaineers but also, Our Lady of the Perpetual Yard Sale, Property Tax Capitol of the World (even your…

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Howdy Jane!! I've been so busy with other stuff lately I haven't even been on this site in a month or so. I am thinking about going back to Malice this time, but I don't know if I'll be able to or not financially. We had to get new siding for the house and that set us back a pretty nickel (inflation ya know)...so we'll see.
Hey, I just finished a great book. Austin Camacho's Blood and Bone. I think you'd like it a lot too..judging by some of those on your list. Check it out and see. HUGS!

Believe it or not, I actually tried an ice cream diet, years ago. It was a diet called something like the "Eat-your-favorite-food-until-you-get-sick-of-it Diet."
Unfortunately, I never got sick of Pralines N' Cream ice cream from B&R.

Jane, thanks for the nice note on my page! If you do pick up one of my books, I'd suggest IMMORTAL or CANDY. They are more Robert B. Parker-like, since they are told in the first person. By the way, check out my blog post on GODWULF, if you haven't already:

Hi Jane. Just remember that if your nine yr old is writing that well, she must have gotten it from you! :-) (I'm headed to Office Depot. lol.)
