Ahh... bored housewife? Amateur writer. Not mysteries, I'm rubbish at crime. Not sure what to call it...
But I love to read, and mystery/crime/detective fiction has always been my favorite.
I Am A:
Reader, Writer
Books And Authors I Like:
Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, The Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters. Anything by Lovecraft. Isaac Asimov's Black Widowers shorts...
I've read so many books in my life (left alone, I can average 300 5x7 pages of s12 print a day... how many words is that...?) I have a hard time when I'm asked for reccomendations.
But not just mysteries I also have a soft spot for fantasy. Waterbabies and At the Back of the North Wind... The Hobbit by Tolkien (papa used to read my to sleep with it), I loved Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and Dragon's Bait by Vivian Vande Veld. Fuyumi Ono' Twelve Kingdoms Chronicles... The Pern books are technically Scifi aren't they?
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Now, when it comes to visual media I prefer science fiction. To fantasy, not to mystery/crime!
I grew up watching all the old Sherlock Holmes film adaptations (so excited about the new BBC one!). Mysteries seems a bit harder to present on screen than in print, but I love them anyway. Unsolved Mysteries, the CSIs... X-Files... I even got into a couple anime crime dramas I will love forever and damn the fans; Death Note and Weiss Kreuz (YES. IT. IS.).
As for other film... Doctor Who, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, Stargate (the movie, but also SG1), Star Treks TOS, TNG, and DS9...
Movies: Buffalo 66, There Will Be Blood, Tekkonkinkreet, No Country for Old Men... I dunno I like a lot of movies. My basis for judgement is fairly arbitrary.
