The only time it's been an issue for me (so far) has been when I was sick. If I'm home ill, I'm usually too weak/uncomfortable to read and would normally veg in front of the tv. Hulu seems to work okay in a pinch.

Yes. Sub-genre labelling is Very useful for finding a book I'll have a higher probability of enjoying. Otherwise I'm stuck just browsing titles and covers in the bookstore. (Which I do enjoy, but only when I don't know what I want to read. When I ...

Are you kidding me?? I love the Monk series. Have a couple copies waiting to be read on my shelf right now. Wow. It's going to be very interesting to see if knowing this about the author changes the way I react to the books.

Are there any good crime series that are based in as fictional of worlds as Harry Potter? One of the main reasons I enjoy crime fiction is the realism, but I have friends who are fantasy nuts. Just wondering if the two ever meet in the same book e...

It definitely takes both for a good mystery. I don't think you can have a book in this genre without plot... unless you really stretch the definition. But to gain me as a permanent audience, one who eagely anticipates every novel and even rereads ...

V. enjoyable thread. For me personally, as a reader, my favorite books create this urgent need to know what will happen next - to the extent that when I'm away from the book I almost feel like the story's going on without me and if I don't get ba...

Re: historical figure accuracy, I think the audience's expectation level for accuracy depends entirely on the genre in question and how central the historic event or character is to the story. That said, even when I am expecting extremely well res...

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

I'm a reader, I don't have access to broadcast t.v. or cable, and I write sentencing reports for a living during the day.

About Me:
Recently donated my only television to a close friend in an attempt to downsize & "unplug." Will I finally work my way through the stacks of unread books from countless "browsing" visits at my local Barnes & Noble? Doubtful. Not until the library adds a Starbucks inside and stays open till 12am.

The only thing I like better than a good book is a good Audio book (unabridged, single reader, NO SOUND EFFECTS, moderately dramaticized).
