I cut my teeth on Spade, Marlowe, Archer. Added Spenser & anything by Elmore Leonard including his early Westerns George Pelecanos, Richard Price and Donald Westlake. I'm currently mixing my reading of Hard Case Crime with classic Gold Medal. Megan Abbott, Vicki Hendricks... it is a long & growing list.
