I write psychological thrillers. Grievous Angel and The Murder Ballad are published in the UK by Random House. In the US Grievous Angel is published by HarperCollins. I'm currently working on my third book, Can't Let Go, to be published in the UK in March 2008.
I'm a former radio journalist and programming boss. As well as writing, I'm also a stand-up comedian - check out my comedy video below!
My father gave me an Agatha Christie book to read when I was twelve, and I was hooked for life. I love psychological suspense, particularly Barbara Vine - and of course Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. I'm currently re-reading Wilkie Collins.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
TV: House, CSI: Original Flavour, Doctor Who, Life on Mars, University Challenge, Ugly Betty, Harry Hill's TV Burp.
Movies: The Big Lebowski, Aliens, Cutter's Way, Palm Beach Story, Double Indemnity, The Big Chill, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Ride the High Country, The Hairdresser's Husband, Hidden (Cache).
Jane...By day I'm a prosecutor so it's like being a frustrated stand-up comedian, but at least I have a captive audience! My first book Justice is Coming will be out Feb., '08 andf has an evil psychatrist as the bad guy. I look forward to reading your work.
Minette Walters has a map of locations that inspired scenes for her books. Many of these are near Portsmouth and by looking at the pictures attached to the map locations your part of England must be quite picturesque.Do you feture any local area in your books?
Wow - such energy in all that you do. Thanks for the heads up on your books....I'm there, and to your other blogs.
My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.
The blogsite www.beatitudesinneworleans.blogspot.com describes the Network, has excerpts from The Beatitudes, recipes, and more. Merci mille fois. Lyn Lejeune.
Writers, please pass the word…..it’s for a good cause….don’t let the libraries of New Orleans or the US go the way of The Great Library of Alexandria. P.S. just posted an excerpt on my Crimespace page.
I also *loved* Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca when I was a kid! It formed my idea of what a suspense novel should be. I actually named my daughter Rebecca (don't ask me why I named her after the villainess, lol).
The Outer Banks are one of my favorite places too. That makes the research and writing about it even sweeter. Its my chance to share a favorite place with others :) There's plenty of background and location information on my website at: www.nikkileigh.com/lilah.htm
