"I've rewritten finished novels, sometimes two or three times.  It looks as though I'm about to do it again.  Mind you, I hate wasting the time to rewrite a full-length novel, but when something doesn't work it nags at me."

Raymond Embrack replied to Michael C. Jacobs's discussion Altman's The Long Goodbye with Elliot Gould. Yea or Nay?
"Next question: Altman's subversive version of Chandler (set in L.A.) or the most faithful adaptaion of the Big Sleep (Robert Mitchum late 70s) but it's set in London?"

Raymond Embrack replied to Michael C. Jacobs's discussion Altman's The Long Goodbye with Elliot Gould. Yea or Nay?
"Love the movie. Altman as his peak. It was a 1970s movie that has since become as classic as the novel. Who is still offended by this picture's violation of Chandler?"

I liked Cuba Libre as well. Not sure I can narrow it down to one book. Early on I read Freaky Deaky and Kill Shot and loved them both. Also loved Rum Punch. But my most recent favorite is Mr. Paradise. Great characters. I love how he shares the characters' thoughts. He's a master at it.

Hi Raymond, anyone with a Get Shorty life-soundtrack is a friend of mine! Love that Elmore Leonard!  What's your favorite book of his (besides Get Shorty)?

It's fun...I'll read a book, then have a Chandler pallet cleanser, then another book, then a Hammett.  It's great fun!
