About Me:
I write books. Some people read them. KISS HER GOODBYE was the first one. The second one, WHISPER IN THE DARK, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly.

KILL HER AGAIN arrived in 2009 and DOWN AMONG THE DEAD MEN debuts in June 2010.

My first book KISS HER GOODBYE has been bought by Sony Television and is in development at CBS, and I recently signed with Dutton books to the write the supernatural thriller PARADISE CITY, the first of a series.

Me, Me and More Me

It seems that some have come to this page and still have no idea who I am or why the hell I have a right to exist in this world.

Well, I can't answer the last part of that question, but I can tell you this:

I'm a former screenwriter, winner of the Nicholl Award, and now a novelist whose debut novel, a thriller with a supernatural twist called KISS HER GOODBYE, was just released by St. Martin's Press. Think 24 meets Dean Koontz or Stephen King and you sort of have an idea --

-- although my writing style is nothing like Koontz's or King's and I had never seen 24 until about a month ago when I bought the first season. Great show, by the way.

Anyway, I've got another book coming out in 2008 from St. Martin's and two more after that, thanks to a new contract, so I'm a busy, busy boy.

All that said, you can find out more than you'll probably ever want to know about me at RobertGregoryBrowne.com, and you can even read the first three chapters of KISS HER GOODBYE.

I think that about covers it. Any questions?

WHISPER IN THE DARK RELEASED

The US version of my thriller WHISPER IN THE DARK is now in stores everywhere. Whisper received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, in which they so kindly said the book is:

"a taut psychological thriller with hints of the supernatural and an ending that will leave readers speechless. ... The deeply satisfying story moves at a furious pace, packed with unexpected and original clues and plot twists."

I'm not sure how murder, mayhem, mysterious religions and a touch of… Continue

BLANTANT SELF PROMOTION

I complained of it earlier, but I have a bit of blatant self promotion to share:

Fellow Crimespacer Brett Battles and I have begun a series of podcasts on writing, with our first episode -- Character is King -- up and ready to be listened and subscribed to. Head on over to battlesandbrowne.com to have a listen.

And if you have any questions for us, feel free to ask and we'll try to answer you on an upcming episode.

Blogging Like Crazy

For anyone interested, I've just started blogging over at Murderati and along with J.D. Rhoades will be alternating Wednesdays. Today's topic is probably near and dear to most writers, so if you're so inclined, head on over there and check it out.

If this falls under the topic of BSP, please forgive me and feel free to flog me with a wet shoelace.

The Key to the Kingdom

The following is a cross-post from my website blog:

Everybody’s looking for it. Years ago, when I was an aspiring writer, I wanted desperately to find that magic

key that would let me into the world of the pros, would open up that

treasure box full of secrets — especially the ones that would get me

published or produced.

I searched high and low for that key. I read books about writing,…

Okay, I'm Pissed

I'm a little pissed at Daniel for stealing my idea.

Well, maybe steal is too strong of a word. It isn't as if I proposed the idea to him and he turned around and executed it. He obviously did that all on his own. But the idea of a social network specifically for crime or thriller writers has been in the back of my mind for months now and I blame the lack of time for never following through.

Now Hatadi has managed to tap into that nebulous part of the universe where all the… Continue

Thanks for adding me to your Friends here, Rob. Your book sounds great and I will have to check it out. Noted in your favs that you liked the movie The Deerhunter. I can understand why. Powerful movie. I remember leaving the theatre feeling like I had been kicked in the gut. My husband did not like it, though. He just likes to be entertained. Don't make me think. :-)

All best,

I'm making a point: visit CrimeSpace for 5 or 10 minutes each day and mingle. I finally set up a basic MySpace page that I'm going to tinker with as well, with pretty much the same caveat. 5 or 10 minutes.

Otherwise, it's a passive website and I might as well not waste my time.

Anybody want to best on how long this initiative will last?

Or will it turn into yet another obsessive-compulsive thing like checking blogs.

Sigh.

Hey Robert - Thanks for the invite.

And, cool to see Eugene Izzi on your list there. A truly underrated master.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the invitation. Congratulations on all you've got going on. Nothing wrong with BSP. Personally, I'm working on SSP (Shameless Self Promotion). I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi, Rob (for some reason I called you Keith ... Hm). Thanks for the invite. It seems to me that, these days, BSP is as big a part of a writer's job as getting the words down. I must check out your book. But first, where's that wet shoelace...?

Hi Rob. I love it here because we CAN do a LOT of blatan self promotion! My favorite past time these days. Best of luck with your book by the way. It sounds like we're on the same path. Mine just came out in April and in the middle of all the promotions for it, I need to have the second book to my editor by the end of the year. Yikes. I look forward to chatting with you!
