Not to worry--I've been around long enough to know the frustration. As far as as I know, the only true juried awards are the Edgars and the Shamus Awards, though someone may be able to add others. What I do as a voter is only vote for books/storie...

I didn't mean to be personal. Believe me, I sympathize with the struggle to get a little publicity. I have problems with the Anthony because I've attended Bouchercons and heard others talk about who to vote for. Someone provides lists of the nomin...

I.J.--I'm sorry if that's the way this came across. My books are sold primarily into libraries, so it's unlikely that people are going to stumble across them at a bookstore or Sam's Club. I don't expect people to vote for my books because I'm a fr...

See, that's what's wrong with the Anthony: people asking other people to vote for them or for their friends.

About Me:
I'm the author of four mystery novels: UNCOMMON GROUNDS; GROUNDS FOR MURDER; BEAN THERE, DONE THAT; and, this spring, BREWED CRUDE AND TATTOOED. As you might guess from the titles, they are set in a gourmet coffeehouse and (I'm told!!) funny.
I Am A:
Reader, Writer
Website:

Books And Authors I Like:
Traditional mysteries and PI books--Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, Jeremiah Healy, etc. Barbara Michaels' AMMIE, COME HOME is my all-time favorite--so much so I wrote an essay about it in MYSTERY MUSES: 100 Classics That Inspire Today's Mystery Writers.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
The Closer, Entourage, Heroes, Brothers and Sisters. And pretty much any Law & Order ever made--they're my comfort food. Oh, and I'm still in mourning for Six Feet Under and, now, The Sopranos.

A Really Bad Self-publicist

Well, as usual, Anthony nominations have crept up on me and I, a publicist by trade, have done no publicity on my own book (a shoemaker's children have no shoes type of problem...).

I would LOVE to get my publisher and artist (Severn House and Piers Tilbury) a nomination for best cover art for BEAN THERE, DONE THAT (see my photos--the coffee beans are bullets). They've done SUCH beautiful covers for me and alot of Bcons don't have a Cover Art category.

Soo...anyone going to Bcon: I'd appreciat… Continue

I should be writing...

I have a December deadline and ten pages written, so...what am I doing here, you might ask?

Procrastinating, of course. I've never blogged before, and I fear that the number of words I write here will be in inverse proportion to the ones I write for the new book, tentatively entitled BEAN THERE, DONE THAT. At least, that's what I want to call it. I have a feeling my editor will want the word "grounds" in the title to match the first two books in my coffee se

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Sandy, always good seeing you and Jerry. Think Borders in Vero Beach may have me in to sign, a friend has a radio show there, so I get some free PR for the store. Maybe on the way up, or back, depending on the signing time, we can meet for a meal in your home turf? Windy is all, but the next one is scary the way it's threating to turn! Hope to see you again, soon.

Well, I am nearly to Chapter 18 in UNCOMMON GROUNDS and am loving it. As I sit here on my p.c. my self-cleaning oven has only about half an hour to finish.
The weather is picture perfect for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Your autographed books arrived a couple of days ago, and I started UG at the dentist's office. The books were worth the wait, and I am nowan admirer of Maggy. As you know, my first husband was a dentist, now retired, who left me for his hygienist whose husband committed suicide. Tomorrow would have been Jolly's and my 35th wedding anniversary, so I am feeling a bit blue. However, I can pop on a demo tape from his professional music days. How many widows can do that? ;-)
