I've been criminally remiss on not thanking you for your terrific note. I'm glad you liked Little Gods. As authors we need to be prepared for all reactions, asking only an opportunity. As opposed to film, which is a collective experience of the audience, novels allow each reader to settle in with the story, to create their own connection with the material. Rarely do people walk out of a film (part is consciousness that others are watching, a kind of collective censorship of honest action and reaction), but readers often put down books that don't click for them. My feeling is that this is the way things should be, that your life is too precious in all of its mutlitasked microseconds to waste any of it doing something that isn't right for you, particularly when it's your 'free time.' Stay in touch.
