About Me:
After many years writing feature articles for national publications such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, and Esquire, as well as several nonfiction books, I plunged into writing my first novel. The idea for THE PURPLES came out of a long-ago family connection to the infamous Purple Gang, a wild group of Jewish rumrunners who ruled Detroit during Prohibition. (My connection is to the man who took them down.) With some facts and a lot of imagination I chronicle the gang's swift rise and fall through the voice of their smart, cynical, and slightly self-delusional leader, Joe Bernstein. I hope the book is as fun to read as it was to write. See a book trailer (I know it doesn't sell books but was fun to make) and find much more info about the writing and characters of the book at http://ThePurplesBook.com

Sharing a great review

LLBookReview.com just posted a terrific review of THE PURPLES. The reviewer gave it a really close read and "got" all the narrative and thematic twists I worked so hard to embed smoothly into the flow. The reviewer even gives a shout-out to the book's website. Check out this fun-to-read review: http://bit.ly/bTRkF1

Read all about Goofus's drift to the dark side in 'Always the bad example.'
