Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Elmore Leonard. William Dylan Powell writes dark, and often funny, mystery fiction set in Texas. He's the author or co-author of a half-dozen books, and winner of awards from the Robert L. Fish Memorial Award Fund and the Mystery Writers of America. Powell's work has been featured in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, Demolition Magazine and a host of fine truck stop bathroom walls across the Texas badlands. When not writing fiction, he is the creative director at a Houston ad agency.

Dylan, from what I can tell through web surfing there's a lot in common between Wing Chun and what we've been learning. We do a lot of close fighting where we try to have a simultaenous block+strike. A lot of minimal movement also. We also do a lot of energy redirecting--directing energy away from the attack and back to the attacker.
Let me know how it goes at Murder by the Book. While Small Crimes won't be released in the US until the fall, I think bookstores can order it directly from Serpent's Tail. I'm curious.
Hey William, glad to see you joined Crimespace. Congrats also on your black belt! I'm not sure on the lineage of my school--pretty much ignorant on the history of this stuff--but the school centers on the southern style animal forms, northern style long fist, then for second degree black belt training and up, more internal forms (tai chi, budha palms, bagwa). What's the focus of your school?
If done all your gigs other than Black Belt. No license required to tend bar in MD. So I'm with you there, but I may challenge you for the title of World's Worst Golfer.
