To honour him, the detective in my first series is named Walter Sydowski, of Polish American descent. In the first book of the 5 in the series (title IF ANGELS FALL) there is some reference, slight, to Sydowski's memories as a child during WWII. Many people enjoy the series.

My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.

And yes, I'm there :-). But I like this name anyway. The short version, Gosia, easier for foregners but confusing ("why are you using two different names?").
Are you thinking of giving that name to someone in your next book? Hope it's not the victim :-)

The flavouring (themes/problems, setting, etc. always changes and this is where the biggest difference is. Intertextuality is also quite a point to the "local" ones, as you call them, but as I said, I'm not that much into... etc.
Translations: Krajewski (PL) - no, hoping this changes, Vazquez Montalban (SP), yes, Mendoza (SP) yes, Camilleri (IT), yes, Akunin (RU), yes.
