Thuglit’s third anthology, Blood, Guts, and Whiskey, will be available to the public on May 25th, two weeks from today. Todd Robinson’s first two collections (Hardcore Hardboiled, and Sex, Thugs, and Rock and Roll) were widely acclaimed, each containing award-winning stories. The newest arrival promises to be just as good, as the appearance of several writers of renown (Sean Doolittle, Craig MacDonald, Stuart Neville, Dave Zeltserman, to name a few alphabetically) figures to balance out…

I like to share comments I receive about my work. Today I want to introduce Jay Burruss.
Jay's wife bought him a copy of Russian Roulette the last time I signed books at Borders in Waldorf, MD, and he wrote me an email praising the books. Then, to my great joy they both stopped by when I was at that store Saturday, to chat with me and get more Hannibal Jones novels.
Jay's personal path parellels Hannibal Jones' in some ways. He's about to retire from the military and will…

Got a new flash fiction piece up at Flash Fiction Offensive. It's called "You're the Boss," and it's quick and brutal. I tried hard to make this piece unique. The reader is a character in the story.
Sound cool? Check it out here:
Hope you enjoy it! Let me know how much you… Continue

Well, folks I'm about 2/3 finished with the main plot on my new novel, GHOSTS, set in SC in the 80s. I am thinking about posting weekly as I write, asking for pointers, and possibilities, as the plot gets thicker, so to speak. I have about 15,000 words done, and am setting up my project board with the timeline etc tonight after the Elaine Viets booksigning at Murder on the Beach bookstore in Delray Beach, FL at 7 pm.
The basic plot is a young girl was convicted of killing her…

Hamas is rebuilding its underground powerbase in the West Bank, stockpiling weapons and material underground, biding its time for a renewal of the conflict with its Fatah rivals.
Palestinian security officials have been telling me this for some time, and they are frankly filled with fear and foreboding. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas mentioned it again in an interview with the Arabic newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat during the week, accusing Hamas of smuggling…

I heard a noise and saw it was my friend.
He said he needed help and asked me if I'd lend
An alibi that would save his neck.
He rushed through my front door and told me of the wreck.
They were "ambushed by a gang of mean men."
What they did to his girl, he called: "the darkest sin."
They roasted her, ate her flesh off bone.
They forced him to…

I love stories of castles and knights, but there is so little good stuff written about this part of our history. Desjarlais is a master of historical fiction--weaving vivid descriptions of the food, clothes, beliefs, politics and habits of the time into a story that grabs hold of your imagination and doesn't let go! For the guys, there's plenty of swordplay, action and intrigue. For the girls, there's romance and uncertainty. I never knew what a key role the collection and preservation of…

A story of mine featuring a hitman named Smitty is up on A Twist of Noir. The story is called 'See you in Hell.'
Don't read it if you're squeamish. A .50 caliber bullet can be messy.

I like to share comments I receive about my work. Today I want to introduce Glenn Anderson.
Glenn picked up a copy of Russian Roulette at a book signing I did at Borders Express in Fair Oaks Mall. After reading it he wrote to let me know how much he enjoyed it. He said the book kept him guessing, and he liked that the pace and excitement kept building.
Glenn was nice enough to take the time to post a review on Amazon.com. Thanks, Glenn for your kind words. I've added your…

I want you all (and everyone else in the world), to know that The Biggest Liar in Los Angeles, book one (chronologically) of the Tom Hickey California Century series, came out on May 1. Set in 1926 (guess where), it features a lynching, dubious law enforcement and other sorts of misbehavior; and bigshots such as W.R. Hearst and Sister Aimee Semple McPherson.
I’ll be visiting in Scottsdale, Tucson, Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, Pasadena, Portland, Seattle, and San Diego. If you live or…
