Another Cool Review

M. Simpson "Kindle lover," a Houston Amazon.com reviewer said he (or she) really enjoyed The Troubleshooter even though it isn't exactly a mystery. In gratitude for the five-star endorsement I am now featuring this full review on my web site. Check it out. http://www.ascamacho.com

Linda Castillo’s “Gone Missing”

You see it on television and read about it in the newspaper.  You shake your head sadly as you reach for your morning coffee.  “What’s the world coming too,” you wonder as you blow across the coffee cup and take a sip.

You just can’t imagine anything like “that” happening to you or any of your

neighbors.

And yet, “it” happens all the time, with frightening regularity.  “It’s” happening to

wealthy families in nice neighborhoods…

Time for a Change

A couple things have happened in the last month or so. They have me thinking about changes.

I really dislike change, even though I know sometimes, even most times, the new situation will be better. I’m resistant to jumping into the water without a net…or something to that effect.

The first thing was that my goofball landlord, who hasn’t deigned to take…

Author Update

I enjoyed reading from my novels at the Bowie Senior Center’s Book Lover Expo. The 2-hour event featured 20 local authors. I signed lots of books and made many new friends.

I also reviewed Debra Webb’s latest novel – POWER. Read my review of this character-driven mystery thriller in in The Big Thrill, the newsletter of the International Thriller Writers. http://www.thebigthrill.org/2012/08/power-by-debra-webb

I've said it before and I'll say it again - if Peter Robinson's name is on it, I know I'm in for a good read. I enjoyed last year's stand alone novel - Before the Poison. (Winner of the 2012 Arthur Ellis Award for Best Novel by the Crime…

Blood and Bone gets a 5-Star Review!

Damascena posted this on Amazon.com about Blood and Bone:

“One of my personal delights is to find, and read, early works by favorite authors. I like to see how they started out, and along what lines they developed and matured. Sometimes the early books are a bit disappointing, and when they aren't, I feel as though I've found buried treasure. This is the case with Blood and bone. True, I can see how the…

UK crime [legal] fiction

Having got into John Grisham novels some time ago I am always on the lookout for UK authors who write similar sories about crime and the law, and how it often lets people down.

Any recommendations for Britsh 'legal' fiction?

Crime author Pauline Rowson talks about her writing routine

'm often asked about my writing routine. Do I have one and if so what is it? How much time do I spend when writing?

Unless I am away from home on a speaking engagement, I write every day, usually for about three to four hours a day but this varies depending on the stage of the novel and whether I need to break off to conduct some research. Sometimes for days on end if the flow is going or I am nearing the end of the novel I can spend eight hours writing, not good for the back and if…
