A couple of months ago I took my black belt test at the Kung Fu school I've been attending. It was tough for an old geezer like me, but I survived it, and after five years of pretty intense training, earned my black belt. Anyway, that's the reason for replacing my author's photo.

Rock on, Dave! That is awesome, as I know Hung Gar folks are tough and old school. Are you guys Lam family lineage or Tang Fong?

I'm the fattest, slowest guy in my Wing Chun school but I love it. My wife and I watched Master Killer with Gordon Liu last night. Classic. Manchu bastards!

Karyn, thanks. I know what you mean. The black belt was in Hung Gar southern-style Kung Fu--all external forms. For the second degree, it's mostly internal --bagwa, budha palms, tai chi, and I'm fumbling around, feeling like a beginner again.

Congratulations, Dave. It's a great accomplishment. When I got mine, after the ceremonies and all the hoopla, my Master shook my hand and said, "Now you are ready to learn." Congrats on the book, too.

Thanks, Don. I got my author's copies the otherday, and the book looks great. Now just waiting for the reviews...
