I am ashamed of myself for being so lazy the last few weeks. I've got one book on the 'please read me' circuit and a short story that's been about three days from completion for a month now. I don't even have a good excuse. My back is better than it's been in years since I got some treatment.
I think the lay off I was forced to take when I was hurt has involuntarily extended itself. Or I've just been lazy.
I do have someone looking at my book. A full manuscript was requested last week and that is a giant step for me, since I write the worst query letters and synopsis' in the world. I'm okay if they also want the first three chapters, but I develop an attitude if they only want a query letter. It reminds me too much of Freshman English, where the student assistant would take all the papers, throw them down the stairs and the one that landed closest to him got a C, the next step all got D's and from there down it was F's. As some of you may have guessed, I don't do gatekeepers well.
I did get to look at some neat motorcycles last week. I've been an old motorcycle driver for years and I have not had one for about four years. When gas prices went over three bucks a gallon I decided to ditch the pickup and get back on a two wheeler. I think I'm going to stay away from the heavy iron this time out. At my age I believe I'll stick with something that starts with a button and doesn't require a tool kit the size of a saddle bag just to get from point A to point B. And maybe this time I'll buy something that I can afford to fix if it does have a catastrophic failure. Eighty miles to the gallon sure sounds good, and my insurance will cost under a $100.00 a year.
Maybe I can finish up the short story this week. I' going to cut this off since I have a hungry cat in my lap.
If I get the bike I'll post some pic's and bore you with all kind of details.
Tom
