Without the (sort of) daily ritual of the Film Noir festival to keep me posting, I’ve allowed myself to get way too lazy about this blog. So, here’s what’s been up at Casa Faust

I’ve been hip deep in the new book, writing and rewriting and trashing big chunks and working through some of the tangles in the story. I’m spending a lot of time doing research in the beautiful downtown library, one of my favorite places on earth. It sometimes feels like I’m winning this fight and other times the book will kick my ass for a round or two, but I’m determined to go the distance. I want this damn thing done.

I’ve also got a few other potential irons in the fire that will require creative multitasking. I’m really more of a one-book-at-a-time kind of girl but unfortunately, that just don’t pay the bills. At the moment it’s nothing but a lot of hot air and maybes and long shot pitches so if anything real comes of any of this, I promise you guys will be the first to know.

In other news, after more than 10 years of being a freelance pen-for-hire, I have finally taken the plunge and gotten myself signed up with a literary pimp. Yes, I’m talking about representation. An agent. It’s gonna be a real interesting year.

Meanwhile, MONEY SHOT is now up on the Hard Case Crime website. (Be sure to check out the sample chapter.) I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final cover. It’s feeling more and more real every day.

I’ve been working on my publicity war-plan for MONEY SHOT, trying to figure how to best spend my time, money and energy. It’s a daunting task and there’s so much conflicting advice out there. I’ve never been into the hard sell routine so I’m mostly trying to find a comfortable middle ground between letting the book sink or swim on it’s own and shoving it down everyone’s throat.

Oh and laundry. I need to do the laundry. Ah the glamorous life of a working writer…
