ILLUSIONS (Private Investigator-California Bay Area-Cont) – VG
Pronzini, Bill – 26th
book in series
Carroll & Graf, 1997- Hardcover
When an estranged friend and former partner commits suicide, it becomes important to find out why and
whether it could have been prevented. When a man is murdered after his ex-wife has been found, it becomes important to find out why and whether it could have been prevented. Are things as they seem, or are they only illusions?
Pronzini is an excellent writer. He writes straightforward books
with excellent plots, interesting characters who are not perfect but very real, and very good dialogue. But most of all, there seems always to be a point to his books; an "hmmm" factor that always leaves me thinking long after I've finished the last page. "Illusions" is just such a book. It left me with wondering what I'd have done. My only wish is that it was easier to find original copies of his early books. In the meantime, I'll read all the "Nameless" books I can find. Highly recommend.
