About Me:
Darden North, MD, is a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist in Jackson, Mississippi, who has written and independently published three hardcover novels, HOUSE CALL (October 2005) and POINTS OF ORIGIN (October 2006), and FRESH FROZEN (October 2008) with paperback release of HOUSE CALL in October 2007. Both novels were nominated in Fiction by the Mississippi Institute for Art and Letters and by the Southern Independent Book Association.

North is a member of Mystery Writers of America, the Mississippi Writer’s Guild, Sisters in Crime, and the Independent Book Publishers Association. Darden North's novel "Fresh Frozen" to become film

Linda Leon interviewed Darden North March 3, 2011, on Book That Author. To follow, is the link to the interview now on podcast. This was a great opportunity for me to confirm that producer F.X. Vitolo is filming the screen adaptation of my third novel Fresh Frozen, slated for summer 2011.

Hope you enjoy the interview ...  …

Creating a promotional video out of a presentation to the Friends of the Library

Recently I was asked to be the featured speaker at my local library to kick-off the annual membership drive for the Friends of the Jackson (MS) Library held at the downtown Eudora Welty Library. At the last minute, I handed my digital camera to a friend and asked her to take a few pictures. My presentation included a discussion of my writing career balanced with…

Was the Experiment a Success?

I recently conducted a little experiment in book marketing, placing an ad on FaceBook promoting the release of my three mystery/medical thriller novels as eBooks. The materials utilized for the experiment were no more than my laptop, a little electricity, a high speed cable Internet connection, and a credit card --- as well as some spare time that I did not have. (Perhaps I should have spent the minutes moving past page 100 of my work–in–progress, a fourth novel…

Darden, Fren, I am so proud of you. Fresh Frozen is on my to-read list. Congrats on your writing successes. I think that the laptop is the secret--little aliens inside are writing for you. Hope to have another sit-down visit like old times at UM. Best to you. hugh

Well, it's true! I hope to re-read Fresh Frozen over the holiday....I had to read it in bits and pieces the first time...which is difficult to do in a real "page turner" like that. I probably should have waited til the holidays so I could read it straight through the first time...but I was just too curious to wait any longer....and yeah, I know what that did to the cat.

I wish you and yours the absolute Merriest of Christmases!
