About Me:
During the day, I work as general counsel to a major transportation company. At night (well, actually, in the wee hours of the morning), I write legal thrillers.

I was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, and upon graduating high school, I took off for college at MIT. (Why MIT, if I ended up a lawyer? A long story I'll be glad to share with you when we meet in person.) After MIT, I attended Columbia Law School, got my law degree in 1979, and I've been practicing law ever since.

As a lawyer, I write for a living, and I guess there are cynics who’d even say lawyers write fiction for a living. So somewhere along the way, I started writing novels.

SILENT COUNSEL

In the first three months following its release, SILENT COUNSEL maintained a spot among the top five on Amazon's list of "Hot New Releases" in Legal Thrillers, and was a No. 5 Amazon Bestseller in Legal Thrillers.

The review from Kirkus Reviews was gratifying: "[Silent Counsel] boasts a complex story and heart-pounding climax that will have readers looking forward to Isaacson's next."

The review from Midwest Book Review was encouraging as well: "Ken Isaacson's first legal thriller...is on a par with the works of John Grisham."

Please take a look at the places I'll be visiting . I hope you'll be able to stop in and say hello!

SILENT COUNSEL asks you to suppose the unimaginable: What if your child were killed in a hit-and-run? And the one person who knew the driver’s identity—his lawyer—couldn’t tell you his name because of a legal technicality?

Attorneys' silence keeps innocent man in prison for 26 years—in real life.

Every once in a while, there’s a news story that grabs me. And when it touches upon the very issue that’s at center of SILENT COUNSEL—attorney/client confidentiality—it’s of particular interest.

This past Sunday, 60 Minutes aired a segment about a 26-year secret that kept an innocent man in prison—because two lawyers who knew that his claim of innocence was true considered themselves legally bound to remain silent. They knew that the convicted man, Alton Logan, was innocent because… Continue

SILENT COUNSEL nominated for Arty Award

I’ve been looking forward to attending the Left Coast Crime convention in Denver (March 6 – 9), for the opportunity to hook up with old friends—especially the great group of people I met in Anchorage at Bouchercon—and to make new ones.

This week, I found out that I have another reason to anticipate the event: SILENT COUNSEL has been…

I ordered it from Amazon, it seems like 9 years ago, but haven't received it yet. In theory, it's in my TBR pile.

Howdy, Ken! Not sure on Denver, but it's looking unlikely at this point. I'm registered, but it's starting to look like it won't be possible for me. Alas.

Hi Ken, you added tremendously to B'con this year, too. It looks like I'll be at LCC09 Hawaii, but not in Denver. Too much going on here in March. I stayed at BU when I lived and worked in Boston. I grew up in Maine, though, about 2 hours away. Worked for the Kennedys for 3 years at both the Boston office and in the Senate. Different life and as far away from life in Alaska that it seems like it all happened to someone else. I loved going to the North End and hope to go back sometime and hear those brogues. I've got the rss link to Poes Deadly Daughters on our AKSinC site, and am thoroughly enjoying it from afar. And reading about you on DorothyL now and then, too. Have a great time in Denver and for the holidays. Looking forward to your next book.
