FINALLY!! A book trailer that actually works and actually makes me want to read the book. Anyone who makes book trailers should watch this one about a 100 times and take notes.
WHY THIS BOOK TRAILER IS GOOD:
1. It has actual video in it. And the production values aren't cheesy either.
2. It's short. Only 30 seconds long. Which is the limit. No more 3min book trailers. Please.
3. It actually tells me what the book is about. In those 30 seconds, I learned that the protagonist is a police officer and she's a ghost. That's enough to get me interested to check out the book myself to see if I might want to buy it. And that's the goal, right? To get people interested in the book, not running away from it laughing at the horribleness of the slideshow/video.
The biggest problem with book trailers is they are way too long and they oftentimes don't give any kind of plot summary or synopsis at all. One trailer I watched just had a lot of blurbs about how good it was, but never said what the book was about. The INVISIBLE SHIELD video does it all right and all in a short timespan. Whoever made this trailer, good work. Did you make it yourself Scarlett?
Scarlett, I'll check out your trailer. I have one, too, and I notice that even on YouTube and MySpace, people view it but not many rate it. How do we get folks to actually rate it? I think the feedback is important. Best of luck with yours! Susan
