Young by Name...Criminal by Intent!

Lindy Cameron interrogates two Young crime writers with books out March:

** Felicity Young (all the way from WA)

Take Out is Felicity Young’s fourth crime novel and the third to feature the intrepid DSS Stevie Hooper of the Perth Police Department. This time round, when Stevie steps into the empty Pavel house and someone else’s jurisdiction, she upsets more than the ego of a struggling suburban cop. Take Out is based on extensive research into human trafficking and slavery in Australia.

In 1990 Felicity and her family were ‘run out’ of the conservative Perth suburb of Peppermint Grove for having sheep in their garden. Many of the villains in Take Out live in Peppermint Grove. Felicity now lives in Gidgegannup where, when she’s not fighting bushfires, she looks after sheep and rears orphan kangaroos.

** Helene Young (all the way from Far North Queensland)

Border Watch, Helene Young’s debut novel, is a “thrilling, romantic suspense” set in in the tropical far north where Captain Morgan Pentland flies a Border Watch aircraft on surveillance missions over the vast Australian coastline. When Morgan and hostile customs agent Rafe Daniels uncover a terrorist plot to destroy the Sydney Opera House, they are forced to co-operate as they only have 19 frantic days to prevent carnage….

Helene Young lives in FNQ where she works as a pilot with a major regional airline.  The idea for Border Watch started one morning when she discovered a body washed up on the beach.

Hi Jacqui,
Great to see so many Aussie Crime Writers on this site!!
Those two books recommended by Lindy, sound riveting.
... I wish those Crime Writers the best of luck.

So many well-known Crime Writers seem to reside in Melbourne. Sorry I can't make theose Author Events.
.... I live in Brisbane.

Any Brisbane Writers and Readers out there? Hope we can connect.

Cheers,
Karen :))

Melbourne might have lot of crime writers Karen, but Queensland seems to have most of the sf and spec fic writers. Do you think it's the weather?
Hi Lindy,
Queensland's Sunshine has produced a crop of spec fiction writers.
I belong to Vision Writers and we meet at Brisbane State Library, 1st Sunday of each month.

I've had a rethink about Brisbane's CRIME writers. We have high-selling authors Marianne Delacourt, Katherine Howell to name a few.
And up-coming Crime writers like Meg Van, Chris Bongers and myself. (LOL)
I've just joined Sisters in Crime Victoria.
Hoping there's a Queensland Chapter.
Cheers,
Karen :))
Welcome aboard, Karen! If you ever get down to Melbourne, come and look us the local sisters.
There was a Queensland chapter - and there will be one again soon. We're in the middle of helping to get it going again.
Thanks Jacqui and Lindy.
Please keep me posted about the Queensland Chapter.

Karen :))
Just a reminder of this event which is on this Friday, 12/3.
