E publishing hazzels

  I designed formatted and uploaded all my covers , had a little problem with the PDF upload dimensions at Amazon , but got that squared away.

I used a combination of Photoshop and PAINT

I am still struggling with getting listed on the "Premium catalogue" I think its called , because of the EPUB format , the solutions they give are not understandable...I think they want you to pay one of their formaters.

Ed, who are you using, Smashwords? If so, it should format a word.doc just fine. They have no pay to format requirement. Let me know, I've pubbed 8 titles with them without trouble or paying for formatting. Be glad to try and help.

The EPUP Is the problem , you need to have an EPUB format for Sonny and other devices and most important their premium distribution channels. All the other formats came out fine from my word document.  No they dont charge, but EPUB requirements keep kiking me out of the "premium channel " opportunities , when i go and try to correct the erros , the solutions are not understandable  at all, then they suggest the use of a formatter foir a fee.  I had graphics and maybe that was the problem i took the amout this last time and lets see what happens.

What's Calibre , a software? sounds like a good thing to have. like I said the EPUb version in Smashwords is the only problem and if you follow the diractions youget geek talk and cyphers not solutions

I had same prblem they sugested the clear space all comand and it worked good , i could see the indents on Word by selecting the view formating selection and manually deleted them , then I was able to get it accepted by all the formats exept theEPUB, that Caliber sounds like the solution, if my latest correction does not work ...hated to lose the graphics , maybe I'll try reloading after using Caliber

Why did you need a .mobi format for Amazon? I've always just uploaded word documents. I do use Calibre for conversions needed for XinXii.com. great product.

Correction I should have said I had problems with the PDf cover for the paper version in Creatspace

Oh, I haven't ventured into POD (Yet).

Calibre is a downloadable software program (free) and with it you can convert RTF documents into epub, Pdf, .mobi, etc. formatted documents. Still not sure why epub conversion on smashwords is a problem. Is that the only conversion format you are finding a problem with?

It maybe the "floating graphics" , i removed them after trying several time s yo correct.

the problem is that you get errors that do not allow you to set it up , then you try to find out what they are and they give you long codes but no translation or description or how to correct them . that Calibre sounds good , thank you both.
