Has anyone here tried Wattpad? It looks like it's kind of the YouTube of books. Or the Wikipedia. Or something. This article has some info:

I'd never heard of it, but now think I'll go and try it out. :)

I don't get it.

I probably see about three people a week who are going to "save reading"  or "create a whole new literary experience"... but then it turns out its one more social medium where you post stories and other people can read them and mess around with them.

I just don't think reading is going to move online.   And I got started in writing doing online serial fiction.

Maybe once everything is on phones?

I just don't see any big deal about that, nothing that isn't already all over the place.  And if they think they are the ones who moved reading and writing past Gutenberg, they need to get out more.

I hope it takes off for readers' sake. But as an author, the best thing I can do is stop dicking around and write.

I've posted a few things on Wattpad. And another few on Booksie. If you're hot to get an additional two or three people to read something and not comment on it, these sites might be what you're looking for. It's not made a lick of difference to me.

I'll stick with Goodreads and Smashwords in future.

I was just about to ask the same question on this site.  I heard about it from another writer's group I belong to but wanted to see if it has helped anyone in any way.

I started publishing on Wattpad today but for a specific purpose.  I have a draft of a novel that I've wanted to polish for a while now, so I figured I'd revise it chapter by chapter and publish the revised chapters as I finish them on Wattpad and see if I get any feedback.  I put the first chapter up today. http://www.wattpad.com/user/UporOut

We'll see.  John, have you tried it since you posted this question?

I'm up on Wattpad, where I posted my free short stories and I'm serializing my first novel Reprobate to draw readers to the Amsterdam Assassin Series. In the end, it costs next to nothing and who knows what kind of sales it might generate.
