Profile Information

Hometown:
South Queensferry
About Me:
Colin Galbraith was born in Paisley in 1973 and raised in Bridge of Weir in the west of Scotland.

In 1999 after being given a copy of Paul Auster's biography, Hand to Mouth, a creative fire was sparked reminding him of his childhood desire to write. Galbraith enrolled on a creative writing course at the Open College of the Arts that same year, and two years later he embarked on his own literary adventure.

Colin has published many short stories in a wide variety of online and paper-based magazines but he especially enjoys writing thrillers. In 2004 his first attempt at a crime novel was sold to US-based publisher, KIC. HUNTING JACK was released as a weekly serial and was mildly successful.

Readers had to wait eight years, however, for Galbraith’s next release. It came in January 2012, when Smashing Press published Galbraith’s first full-length novel, SLICK.

In 2009 Eternal Press published his first paranormal mystery, a novella entitled STELLA. The sequel, BACCARA BURNING, was subsequently released in 2013 and as a "box-set" in 2017.

2017 will also see the release of his next eagerly awaited thriller entitled GATECRASH.

After living in Leith for 15 years, Colin is now happily settled in Queensferry with his soulmate and their two rabbits. When he’s not writing or at his day job, Galbraith enjoys eating out, wine, whisky, the theatre, and fishing. He is a proud joint owner of St Mirren Football Club, a proven rabbit tamer and an outstanding fake faller.

Looks like we have they same taste in boozers, although I have only been to the Cameo a couple of times since they spoilt it. If I'm in Edinburgh I go to the Oxford Bar, and Ryries or the Caledonian at Haymarket, or the Ensign Ewart near the castle (not the greatest of bars but one of my friends works there part-time)

It's been fascinating. Now that I'm aware, the names just keep coming as I read about others' novels. As humans, we always have more in common than we realize.

Maybe it will be a bit warmer when I come up in May. I lived in Leith for a couple of years and I like to get back there from time to time - which pubs do you use?

Hi Colin I just had a look at your website , and also the Ranfurly Review and Scruffy Dog. I've bookmarked these. What's the weather like in Leith today? It was freezing last time I was there.
