Thanks for the invite, Bernard. Did you know THE WIRE was almost filmed in Philadelphia? After either Season 1 or 2, Baltimore's mayor was unhappy with how the city was depicted and threatened to withdraw the permits to film. David Simon said fine, we can our cameras and money to Philadelphia. When O'Malley heard Phully would just be a stand-in for Baltimore (can't really expect people to believe all those cops and slingers and fiends just up and moved to Philly en masse, right?) he relented.
I read that in an interview with Simon, so i'm taking it as a true story.
