Fortunately, I have not found a twelve-step program for my addiction; instead I have found a creative outlet for it, a website at www.bookbitch.com
And what will you find there? A forum celebrating books - lots of reviews, a chance to win free books every month, the lowdown on what's new & hot in first time authors, bestsellers and everything in between, along with links to everything books!
I work for the public library in circulation. I was a bookseller for Borders for about six years, then a reading group facilitator for them until they decided they didn't want any more book groups buying books and coffee and taking up space in their store. I write reviews for Library Journal. And in my spare time, I recently earned my bachelors degree in English Literature, and have been accepted at the University of South Florida, where I will be pursuing my Masters degree in Library & Information Science.
I am a voracious reader, usually reading two or more books at a time, and reading several books each week. I will read just about anything I can get my hands on, with the emphasis on fiction. I have a penchant for new authors, mostly because when I find an author I like, I tend to read everything they have ever written, which more or less forces me to find new authors.
Crime fiction comprises probably three quarters of my reading time and is my guilty pleasure, but I also read chick-lit, contemporary fiction with a book club bent, tons of erotica, memoirs, compelling non-fiction, and an occasional work of horror, fantasy or sci-fi. I generally avoid self-help & metaphysical books; I am not interested in improving myself by reading the latest pop psychology (anyway, I am quite fond of who I am) or connecting with other worlds (I am rather content with this one.)
I am a logophile as well as a bibliophile. I have a great love of the English language and words have the power to move me like nothing else can. My dream is to write a novel someday, but so far I am lacking what I call the 3 D's...drive, determination and discipline. My goal is to be the Grandma Moses of writers.
I'm 48 years old and married for 25 years to the love of my life. I have two brilliant, beautiful children. I am happy, honest, intelligent, intuitive, funny and fun. I am the eternal optimist; my glass is always half full, my clouds all have silver linings and when life gives me lemons, I make lemonade...no, wait, I make kick-ass limoncello! I am sorry to say I can also be impatient, opinionated, stubborn and generally too blunt for my own good.
With apologies to all those I did not list but love dearly...
Mary Kay Andrews * Lee Child * Michael Connelly * David Ellis * Janet Evanovich * Joseph Finder * Diana Gabaldon * John Irving * Dave King * Steve Kluger * Dennis Lehane * Paul Levine * David Morrell * Laura Pedersen * Jeanne Ray * M.J. Television
Book TV * Boston Legal * The Colbert Report * Countdown with Keith Olbermann * The Daily Show with Jon Stewart * Food Network - everyone but Sandra Lee, don't like that chick * Jeopardy * American Idol
Interesting that you said that Borders didn't want anymore book groups. It seems to me they should be encouraging them. The only bookstore in my area doesn't have anymore book groups either. When I belonged to a book group, I nearly always left with another book in my hand. Short sighted thinking!
Stacy.....Your the reason I'm here. I'm now working on three books. I keep different books in the car, den, and of course the thinking room{bathroom}. I just wish I could read faster. lol
Take care

I have a question. Do you review only new releases? If so, I'd like to keep you in mind for my next release (no date yet).
I'd be interested in donating a copy of my latest novel Whale Song (April 2007 - Kunati Books) to your free book giveaway.
Hope you're having a great week.
