Dave Workman replied to Jude Hardin's discussion Paper Books vs E-books
"I do think there are some writers who are simply writers with an (often reluctant) marketing fringe, and other sales-savvy writers who'd actually rather market than write. I've always admired those right brain/left brain souls who can tell…"

"All from advertising?!I agree; worked for TV. Everyone on a hit TV show (think "best seller") still gets paid. I'm not saying it's right (it is, indeed, rather sickening)... but if ones words are being read, I suppose that's…"

Dave Workman replied to Jude Hardin's discussion Paper Books vs E-books
"At least, in bookstores, you have a reasonable expectation of a "polished" product. A title on the shelf has been through several filters. On Amazon, you can download thousands of titles for free, or under $1, and often get what…"

"Of course, when that pesky magnetic solar pulse wipes out all our hard drives, we'll be glad all those "how-to" books survive in print. Score one for pulp."

"It didn't hurt "The Talented Mr. Ripley." I suppose it's possible to build morality into the darkest of epics, if one chooses to do so."

Dave Workman replied to Jude Hardin's discussion Paper Books vs E-books
"I agree. I was a diehard paper fan until I picked up my first iPad—realized I could tuck 1000 novels under my arm, highlight sections, reference parts, take notes, read at night without a lamp... and play poker.I do think paper books will…"
