A good historical-fiction writer can transport the reader through a time machine back to the day. Believe me, it’s hard to do and I take great pains to succeed when I write a Lucien Caye or Jacques Dugas mystery and especially with the book I’m writing now (I’ve been living in 1814 for over a year).
