My latest book Memory of Darkness from Amber!Quill Press will be out September 6th. This story has a long history -- the character, Johnny Wager came to me when I was working on a screenplay back in 1980. I wanted a character that paid homage to Jim Rockford of The Rockford Files. I wanted a guy who was edgy, smart-mouthed, slightly immoral and a cad. At the time he was straight and his arch enemy was a cop out to get him.
Fast forward 29 years and he was reinvented. He is now gay, having come out of the closet from a failed marriage that produced one son, now a Los Angeles Sheriff's deputy, but he's still smart-mouthed, edgy and as likely to operate outside the law as in. When trouble strikes in the form of a dead hustler found in his motel room, he has to outwit the Armenia Mafia and stay one step ahead of his son, who would like nothing better than to throw dad in jail and toss out the key.
