I'm so glad you enjoyed Royal Pain. I'm actually lucky the publisher is still touring me--in a more limited way this year, as they are really cutting back on pomotion. Hope I come closer to you next year.

Looks like the closest you'll be to me is still too far for me to easily get to. Just read A Royal Pain, and am looking forward to getting the new one! Already had it on my wish list at B&N.

About Me:
I'm the author of the Molly Murphy mysteries, featuring an Irish Immigrant woman in 1900s New York City, also the Constable Evans mysteries set in North Wales.
Last summer I launched a brand new series about the British royal family in the 1930s.It's called HER ROYAL SPYNESS, Berkley Prime Crime. It's been pitched as Bridget Jones meets Maisie Dobbs with a touch of royal flair, of course. Lots of fun and a little bit sexy and scary too. It became an IMBA #1 bestseller and has been nominted for the Dilys, Agatha, Romatic Times and MacAvity awards.
July 1 2008 marks the appearance of the second in the series, A Royal Pain.
I've been nominated for every major mystery award and I've won eight of them. I also write short stories and have served on the MWA national board. When not writing I love to travel, sing, play my Celtic Harp and spoil my grandchildren.

Happy Holidays

At this season I'd like to send out best wishes to all my friends in Mysterydom.

It's been a great year for me. My new book, Her Royal Spyness, seems to have taken off and I've acquired a lot of new fans. The second book is already written and due out next summer. It's called A Royal Pain--even funnier, I hope.

And a new Molly book is due out in March. Called Tell me Pretty Maiden. All about the New York theater.

So I wish everyone a happy, healthy, successful new year an

Alaska, here I come

I'm off to Alaska in the morning--heading for Bouchercon and looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones.

The great thing about the mystery world is the friendships I have made. I would not have believed, when I wrote my first mystery 11 years ago that I would have a circle of wonderful friends who are important in my life. Any of you who have not been to a mystery convention, I really recommend trying one--they are all over the place and at various times of year. We rea

Europe, the good, the bad and the very ugly

I got home last night after three weeks in Europe. I'm trying to put my impressions on paper and I realize that the bad still outweighs the good.

We flew into Frankfurt and took the train to Dresden. I'm glad we saw it--it is a completely recreated old city. You'd think the buildings had stood since the middle ages but actually most were faithfully rebuilt after WW2. Still, it was pleasant and we had the most fabulous duck and red cabbage.

Then on to Prague, which to me was a di

Catching my breath

I'm finally home for a few days before a much needed trip to Europe.

The royal tea parties were such fun--cucumber sandwiches, fancy hats, the lot! And the stores threw themselves into the spirit of the thing so beautifully too. Linen cloths and good English china in one store, a cake made like my book cover in another, home made scones, home made sausange rolls and a catered tea from a fabulous tea room--these were some of the delights that treated me and my fans at each stop.

Karen Syed at Echelon Press in Maryland is doing the book. I just got the cover art sent to me yesterday. The first chapter is on my web site (which for some unsolvable reason can only be accessed through explorer) I would be honored if you took a look.

I obviously have yet again miss-communicated. My book launches in July so it is a trifle late for it to see daylight in a critique group. After being in business myself for forty years I can understand your publishers concerns of aiding the enemy so to speak. Please rest assured I will still admire your work and strive as best I can to preserve the traditional as a form of mystery. Allan

Yes, we do lol. I love the sound of your mystery stories, Rhys. I'm going to have to put one of your books on my 'to be read' list. Which one would you recommend?
