Memory

Did this already happen to you ? To forget about a text you wrote ? I get back some papers in a box, and read them last night... and I found few lines, the begining of a story... and I don't know when I had this idea... this could become a detective story, the mood is here... I will tell you if I go on this way, it would be a first time for me, so I could need your help ;)

Hi Tiffany,

I recently set a novelette in Paris, 'The Voice of Anton Bouchard'. It was a very dark and brooding piece about a serial killer, and I couldn't think of a better setting than to contrast the 'City of Love' with the mind of a murderer, whose motives were inspired by a twisted kind of love that manifested itself in his crimes.

Salut. or would you prefer for me to write in English (so no mistakes?) I am an enthusiastic reader too, have an MA where my research looked at the 'missing' detective in contemporary French crime fiction (taking Daeninck's Cadin and Vargas' Adamsberg as examples. Have read lot of French but am now having to read all I can get find of crime fiction translated into English as I have a chapter to write for a reference book. Finding lots of interesting material and many foreign authors refer to English or American writers (both literary and from the genre) as their influences. Maybe when I am Paris next - maybe researching - we could meet for a coffee?

Paris, let me count the way and byways. I know that city like the back of my hand. I'm from New Orleans...the sister city.
My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.
The blogsite www.beatitudesinneworleans.blogspot.com describes the Network, has excerpts from The Beatitudes, recipes, and more. Merci mille fois. Lyn Lejeune.
Writers, please pass the word…..it’s for a good cause….don’t let the libraries of New Orleans or the US go the way of The Great Library of Alexandria. P.S. just posted an excerpt on my page here on crimespace.

If an author wrote a book in the forest, and nobsy read it, did (s)he write it? Readers are always welcome. Without you, we authors would vanish.
