My plots, themes, and characters are about desire, primarily greed and lust. Be nice to think so, but I doubt our baser emotions are on the wane.
It absolutely happens to men. The auto da fe in Spain appeared to involve more male victims than female. And Hus and Savonarola were burned at the stake. Galileo escaped barely.
Okay, I grant you the two monks. Had forgotten them. But generally tension, sexual or otherwise, should relate to the plot. Too often mysteries waste pages on detailed accounts of torrid love-making that is unrelated to the book's objective. If it...
I'm pretty sure it happens to men, too; the book incorporates a fair amount of medieval history, and talks a lot about the fates of various famous heretics. All wonderfully gruesome.

and lately, it hit me, a great many authors are being "rediscovered" long after fading from view (the cynic says the publishers are gypping the author of paying a living writer, the optimist says it is entirely possible --especially given the reviews attendant-- that an entirely new generation by fluke or design will come across an author and give them the due they long deserved)

- I'm not a St. Louisan, my DH is--I'm from the Ozarks--but we both live in Wisconsin now. I've had friends do signings at a bookstore in the CWE--I'm guessing the same one.

New day job in law enforcement!
I now work as a scientist / engineer in a special unit of USAF OSI. We provide tech and analytic support to Special Agents throughout the Air Force on cases that are overly technical or too large for their regional office to handle. We provide the "heavy lifting" in the scientific and engineering subjects.

La Voie des Braves has legs!
The French version of my 1st novel, How the Strong Survive, was released a few weeks ago, and it it doing well. It is titled "La Voie des Braves" and debuted at #14 on the Amazon.Fr bestseller list

I just got a pub-date for te French version of How the strong Survive. La Voie des Braves will be released on 15 January, 2009!
