About Me:
I'm Jeri Westerson and I write medieval mysteries. Medieval Noir, to be exact. My first in the series VEIL OF LIES was released in 2008 by St. Martin's Minotaur and is now in paperback. It was also nominated for a Macavity and a Shamus for Best First PI Novel, the first medieval mystery to be so honored. It's been very exciting! And now the second in the series, SERPENT IN THE THORNS, is also out and doing well. Number three, THE DEMON'S PARCHMENT, is on its way back to my editor with a fall 2010 release date.

My protagonist is dark, brooding, flawed, and sexy. His name is Crispin Guest and he's an ex-knight turned detective on the mean streets of fourteenth century London. He's more Sam Spade than Brother Cadfael. The series is full of hard-hitting action and characters with dirty little secrets. Then there's the added twist dropped in the middle of murder: a relic with mystical powers. They always seem to stir things up, whether it's something everyone wants to get their hands on or can't wait to get rid of.

Shamus Nomination

God, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted here! Should get back to it. The last time I posted I announced the debut of my medieval noir VEIL OF LIES, and almost a year later I get to report that it was nominated for two awards! One is the Macavity for Best Historical Mystery, presented by Mystery Reader's Journal and the other is the Shamus Award for Best First PI Novel, given by the Private Eye Writers of America.
