Author Update

The book signing at the Borders in the Annapolis Mall was short but sweet. I was there for two hours and signed all of the books they had ordered. It was also time enough for me to be visited by a couple of old friends who were in the area, which always makes it more fun. I'm looking forward to my next visit there, when the managers assure me they'll have more of my titles in the store.

I've been attempting to write for years with nothing really ever being completed. I started this year setting a goal for myself that I would finish something. I'm going to post an extract of what I've got so far. Word count as of 30th May 2010 is around 17,000 words. I'm going to post Chapter 5. It's still a rough draft. Malcolm Muggeridge (an old English literateur) once said that George Orwell “was no good as a novelist, because he didn’t have the interest in character.” Well, I didn’t need to tell you who George Orwell was, so you may doubt the judgment of the largely forgotten Muggeridge.
