My blogguest (Oooh, I invented a word!) on Monday, October 10, is Donna Fletcher Crow, and she tells you why the Victorians are fascinating folks. Of course, the Tudors are the best, really, (IMHO, of course!) but she does make a good case for "The Valiant Victorians." Stop by and take a look.

To the thief who stole the GPS unit from my vehicle last week, I hope it helps you find your way.
There have been many crossroads in my life where an electronic signpost would have been welcome; where the gentle nudge of a UK Samantha or U.S. Carl robotic voice was needed to sound out the best way to turn.
I have found myself at many a dead end or travelling down a road where the scenery was unfamiliar and the neighbourhood felt wrong. At those times, I have been fortunate to…

Hi, everyone,
I'm happy that my first post here is about a great film noir that some of you may not know about: THE BIG CLOCK,starring Ray Milland and Charles Laughton. This film was directed by John Farrow (Mia's father) and is well worth seeing. It'll be on at midnight tonight on Turner Classic Movies. Or you might get it from Netflix. Or steal it from a neighbor...

DNA is extremely complex, but we hear the word “DNA” almost on a daily basis in the news and on crime shows. In 1986, DNA was first officially used to solve a crime of two young girls raped and murdered in the English Midlands. Today, DNA is commonplace in criminal investigations and court proceedings to link a suspect to the crime and to exonerate the innocent who have been wrongfully…

Wow! Early this morning I get up and check Amazon.Uk and find out Call Me Smitty, the beginning three story set of this series, was ranked #71 in Kindle books and #100 in books.
I guess the redesign of the series' cover really did improve things!

As a writer of hardboiled detective fiction I greatly enjoy the Sons of Spade blog, which spotlights the fictional privarte eye. Jochem Vandersteen, who runs it, is a Dutch author who often works in English. Crime movies and novels are the focus of this blog, and the site maintains a global view. If detective fiction is your thing, you need to check out the Sons of Spade. http://www.sonsofspade.tk/
