UK PHONE HACKING SCANDAL SHOULD RING BELLS IN SYDNEY

Maybe it's my warped sense of humour but the screaming headlines and the hair-tearing that accompanied the London media phone hacking scandal left me with a wry smile and the thought of "what might have been."

No one was murdered, were they, or even physically hurt? There was no blood on the walls except, in the metaphorical sense, in the comedy that took place during that laughable debate in the House of Commons. OK, a… Continue

Delighted to see that Ed McBain's novels are to be reprinted and proud that USA reviews have compared my writing to McBain's

The news that Amazon Publishing has bought almost 50 titles written by the late crime author Ed McBain has sent ripples of alarm throughout the publishing world as the retailer encroaches ever deeper into publishing, but it has no doubt delighted McBain fans.  I also read the news with a personal interest because my marine mystery police procedural crime novels featuring…

Crime author, Pauline Rowson celebrates the crime genre for National Crime Writing Week

National Crime Writing Week kicks off today in the UK and runs until June 19, 2011. This  doesn't mean that everyone should start writing crime fiction and neither does it mean that us crime writers will be furiously scribbling away during the week to meet some magical target, or because it's the only week of the year when we can write. No, the purpose of National Crime Writing Week is to celebrate the crime genre and to encourage those who wouldn't normally read a… Continue

Police Ride-Alongs Jump Started My Research for Writing Crime Fiction

One of the most exciting and rewarding experiences that I’ve had as a crime fiction writer was the opportunity to participate in a police ride-along.  I have observed patrol, K9, and detective investigative duties for various police agencies throughout the state of California.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with a police ride-along, it’s a program through…

Great Review of Death Dance from Mystery Women

'This is a fast-moving, skilfully-written tale, told with lots of humour, plenty of twists and turns and a convincing ending. The author, who has a well-deserved reputation for clever crime fiction that keeps the reader guessing until the end, will certainly not disappoint her ever-increasing number of fans with her latest novel. I recommend it very highly.’ Mystery Women on Death Dance

Three more appearances in 2010 and then it's looking ahead to 2011

On 27 November I will be at Waterstones in Portsmouth (UK) between 12 noon and 2pm signing copies of my crime novels or just chatting to readers and anyone else who happens to pass by and is foolish enough to give me eye contact!

Then on 15 December I will be travelling to Broad Chalke in Salisbury to give a talk to the Women’s Institute, which is followed by a trip across the Solent to the Isle of… Continue
