Calling UK Crime Writers

There's some really good stuff here on crimespace and some lively debates and interesting articles. If and when I have more time I'll join in - promise. I'm curious to know if any UK crime writers are on crimespace. If so give me a shout. I belong to the Crime Writers' Association of Great Britain, if there are also any other members of this organisation out there say 'hello'. I'll also post something on my wall.

It's been book signing week

It's been book signing week with Hythe Library on Tuesday, the Plessey Retirement Association yesterday, and today I've been in my local bookshop, The Hayling Island Bookshop, to do another signing on the publication of my marine mystery, Deadly Waters. There was… Continue

It looked out onto the London Eye, with the River curving its way past the Houses of Parliament on one side and up to St Paul's on the other. I only wish I'd had my camera. I could have stayed on the… Continue

What comes first plot or character?

It's a question that I often get asked when I give talks and readings and it's a difficult one to answer or at least to explain. The two are so interlinked that it is impossible to say, well for me at least. This week has been a fairly clear week so I thought I'd crack on with the new Inspector Horton novel. The idea for the novel came easily, based on something I'd been told - more than that I can't say otherwise I'll give the game away. Beginning to turn the idea into a workable plot started… Continue
