Another Cool Review

I've mentioned Dawn Thomas before - we met on the Kindle Korner Yahoo group.  Reading through my novels, Dawn said that she particularly enjoyed The Troubleshooter because she is a long time Washington D.C. resident, and her father was a policeman there in the 1970s.  Because Dawn give my novel a strong recommendation I've posted her comments as this week's featured review on my web site. http://www.ascamacho.com

Another Great Mystery

Critically acclaimed author Ken Mercer follows up his best selling Slow Fire with another suspenseful tour de force, East on Sunset.  My review of Mercer's latest mystery appeared in this month's issue of The Big Thrill, the newsletter of the International Thriller Writers.  Take a look

Climbing

When people ask how long it will take for my books to become best sellers I generally say the question is beside the point. I think too much focus on the objective can sometimes make you miss the beauty of the journey. In other words, everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

Author Update

I had a great time at my book signing at Borders in Waldorf MD. The store has a new manager but the customers were as welcoming as always and I'm sure I'll return soon.  There was also a second author that day, promoting a book related to the Pirates of the Caribbean, so there was also a very convincing Jack Sparrow wandering the store to add to the fun.  Jack posed for photos, but I signed more…

Another Cool Review

I met Dawn Thomas virtually on the Kindle Korner Yahoo group. When one of the other participants mentioned my Hannibal Jones novels Dawn got interested and quickly read through them. Later, when I asked why some of my books get comments on Amazon while others don't, Dawn was just as fast to post reviews for my books, starting with Blood and Bone. Because she is such a dedicated fan I've posted Dawn Thomas' comments as this week's featured review on my web site -… Continue

Author Update

My book signing Saturday was both

successful and enjoyable. Borders in Annapolis is a big store that offers

authors a small space from which to greet readers, but all the folks I met were

enthusiastic about my latest novel. If they had my other titles I'd have done

much better, but I did come close to running out of books. That, plus visits

from a couple of very…

Memorial Day greetings

Memorial Day is the kind of holiday that begs us to make a powerful statement, but I

think all the important things have already been said. Thomas Campbell said that

the patriot's blood is the seed of Freedom's tree. Joseph Campbell told us that

a hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than

oneself. Aaron Kilbourn said that the dead soldier's silence…

And Saturday I will be happy to sign any of my novels for you in person.  Just visit between 1pm to 5pm.

Few experiences are better than spending time in an independent bookstore. That was my Saturday afternoon at One More Page. aside from fine wines and gourmet chocolates the store offers a wonderful collection of great reads. I enjoyed meeting some of their customers and a look around told me that they were indeed discriminating readers. One big clue: New York Times best sellers were not prominently featured. In fact, the few in the store were on the discount cart!

Meet Me in VA Tomorrow

Tomorrow I will be signing my novels at One More Page - an independent bookstore that also offers wines, chocolates and other gourmet foods. The owners are proud to be part of the Arlington and Falls Church communities and offer a variety of events including author talks, book discussions, wine & chocolate tastings, crafts and even story-times for the kids. Come check out this fine new venue at 2200 N. Westmoreland St., Arlington VA. I’ll be there from 2pm to 6pm. -… Continue

Another Cool Review

Don Meek’s wife picked up a copy of Russian Roulette at one of my book signings at Dulles Airport. Don wrote to me with very positive feedback. I value his viewpoint as a 30 year veteran of law enforcement, so I’ve made his comments this week’s featured review on my web site. Take a look at what he had to say. www.ascamacho.com

It was a really great weekend, starting with the very successful Loudoun County Public Library's Writers' Conference. My plot class was well received – I plotted a thriller from scratch with the help of the 25 or so attendees.

After the Loudon County event I headed to Borders Express in Dulles Town Center for a book signing. Aside from signing several books I had a chance to chat with Joseph O’Donnell, publisher of the Eerie Digest. His photographer took lots of pictures, many of which… Continue

Another Cool Review

I met Tricia Patterson at my final book signing at Borders in Bowie MD. She bought Collateral Damage and as always I asked her for some feedback when she had read it. She was kind enough to send me a note afterward. Ms. Patterson actually apologized for reading the book in one day - although I love it when a reader can't put one of my novels down. And being an English teacher she did point out a few typos she found. But she also made clear that she enjoyed the story and my writing style.… Continue
